About the Medical Centre

Victoria Park Medical Centre opened on December 11th 2006. It is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building with all the facilities on one level and four times the amount of space that we had at our old practice.

It is part of the Victoria Park Centre, an exciting project whose aim is to provide facilities for the Victoria and Newtown areas of Bridgwater.

Next door to us is a new branch of Lloyds Pharmacy. On request the pharmacy will collect prescriptions from us and have them ready for collection. (All of the other pharmacies in town offer a similar service).

We moved into VPMC from Church Street Surgery. The practice in Church Street had been going for at least 90 years, but we had to move as we had simply outgrown the building.

All GP practices are required to declare the mean net earnings (eg. Average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. This is required in the interests of the greater public accountability recognising GP pay is ultimately funded from tax paid by the public.

The average pay for GPs working in Victoria Park Medical Centre in the last financial year was £23,247 before tax and national insurance. This is for 3 part time GPs and 3 locum GPs (who worked in the practice for more than six months.)
