We no longer have a direct dial line or answerphone service for repeat prescriptions and queries. You now call the main surgery number and choose option 2 to be put through to the Prescription Manager or Clerk.
We have extended the opening hours of the Prescription line to give patients more time during each day to put in a request or contact us with a query.
The Prescription line is now open from 10AM until 2PM every day. We believe that four hours each day will enable all patients, including those who work full-time, to find the time to be able to contact us.
Prescription queries will only be dealt with by the Prescription Manager or Clerk between these times. Reception staff are not trained or authorised to deal with Prescription queries over the telephone and so please do not ask them to do so.
For those who wish to speak to somebody face-to-face, we will be offering pre-bookable appointments with the Prescription Manager between 3PM and 4PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Prescription Manager will no longer be able to deal with ad hoc queries between 10AM and 2PM as they will be manning the Prescription line. If you wish to make an appointment with the Prescription Manager for a prescription query, please speak to the Receptionist or chose the telephone option for appointments. Please do not knock on the Prescription Manager’s door at any time – you will be redirected to reception.
We are also no longer accepting urgent prescription requests, other than for life saving/emergency medication. Patients are asked to please order their repeat medication in a timely manner and endeavour to give the practice 48 hours notice. You can do this by:
- calling the Prescription line between 10AM and 14PM any week day
- requesting your medication online (via Patient Access)
- requesting it through our website here
- completing the B side of your prescription and place it in the Prescriptions Box (if you are unaware of its location, please ask a receptionist)
We understand that sometimes reordering medication is not high on the list of priorities, but last minute request can cause a lot of disruption for the Prescription Manager and our GPs and therefore with immediate effect, the practice will no longer be accepting them.
