Welcome to Victoria Park Medical Centre, where we aim to provide a friendly, personal service which responds to our patients’ needs in a timely manner.

Victoria Park Medical Centre has a close knit team and responsible community partner providing safe, responsive patient centred quality care, whilst developing the team through further learning and encouraging community cohesion. Our mission is to provide the best possible care for our patients.

Dr Catherine Lewis is our Principal GP and is supported by three Salaried GPs, a Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants, a General Practice Assistant and a team of Administrative Staff.

The Surgery opening hours are Monday to Friday 8AM – 6.30PM. We offer pre-bookable late night appointments on Mondays from 6.30PM – 7.30PM. However, we have the front doors shut at the moment still, due to the coronavirus. We are running telephone triage appointments only and if the clinician feels they need to see you, they will offer you an appointment to come in.

Our Nurse and HCA appointments are still pre-bookable for things like blood tests, dressings and smears.

Please help us by:

  • remembering that your appointment is for 10 minutes. If you have more than one issue to discuss, please ask for a double appointment
  • making a separate appointment for each patient who needs to be seen – one 10 minute appointment is for one patient with one issue
  • cancelling your appointment if you a are unable to keep it
  • arriving on time or ringing ahead if you are running late so that we can advise if the Clinician is still able to see you

When booking an appointment, the GPs have asked the Receptionists to ask you for a brief reason for the appointment. This is so we can ensure you are seen by the most appropriate person, which sometimes might not be a GP. It can also assist the GP with planning their day. Please be respectful of our Receptionists when they ask this question. They are asking at the request of the GP and in order to be able to provide the most efficient service possible.

We have recently upgraded our telephone system and have increased the number of lines into the surgery. We now have the capacity to queue callers in the system and you will be advised of your number in the queue.  Please remember however, that we are a small surgery and at very busy periods, you may hear an engaged tone. 

All calls should be made through the main surgery number (01278 437100) (we no longer have a separate line for Prescription Requests). You will be asked to choose one of four options; Make or Cancel an Appointment; Repeat Prescription Requests/Queries (between 10AM and 2PM only), Test Results (between 2PM and 4PM only) and Any Other Query.
